As Jamie and Lexie walked up
the Sonoma Coast north of Bodega Bay, Jamie silently prayed that the couple
who was following them would turn around. Finally, Jamie and Lexie rounded a
corner and were alone on a beach. Glancing back, Jamie saw that the other
couple who had been walking several hundred yards behind them had turned
back. Jamie whispered a thank you as he took Lexie in his arms. "I love you
so much," he said. "Why did you say that?" she replied. This is when it
became clear to Jamie that Lexie was not going to make this easy, but this
is how it would have to be... it was time.
Jamie dropped onto one knee and
asked Lexie to marry him in words so romantic and eloquent that they will not
repeated here. Lexie responded just as one would expect to such a passionate
and weighty proposal. "I don't believe you!" she replied. Jamie sighed to
himself... "Of course it wouldn't go like it did in my plans." But there
was no going back....
After Jamie explained to Lexie that he had in fact consulted her parents
regarding this issue, and that although he didn't have a ring, he did have
necklace to fill in until they picked out a ring together, he once again got
down on one knee and proposed. This time however, Lexie responded with teary
eyes and the desired "I would love to"! So they kissed and were engaged.
